CLIFFHANGER
May 8 – June 20, 2026

Raw Lemon Gallery presented CLIFFHANGER, Ellen Möckel’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, on view from May 8 to June 20, 2026.

Ellen Möckel develops exhibitions as holistic spatial architectures. Her multi-layered works—composed of acrylic, cork, wood, and fabric—are brought together in site-specific installations that engage closely with their surroundings. At the center of CLIFFHANGER is the concept of dignity, drawing on Lea Ypi’s Aufrecht. The exhibition asks how values can be maintained in a culture where visibility depends on simplification. Between legibility and excess, it unfolds a space in which language loses its stability, vulnerability becomes tangible, and attention shifts to the tensions produced by the continuous flow of images in digital environments.

Through repetition and juxtaposition, individual fragments from Möckel’s archive of forms are continually reconfigured. Meanings shift, overlap, and become entangled in chains of associations that simultaneously connect and separate. What initially appears unambiguous becomes the surface of ongoing reinterpretation. In this process, the works establish connections to art historical traditions ranging from ukiyo-e and surrealism to Color Field painting.
